Frequently Asked Questions

Scalp micropigmentation (SMP) is a highly detailed procedure in which tiny impressions of pigment are deposited into the scalp. This will replicate the look of hair follicles, achieving the appearance of a much fuller head of hair. Results are extremely realistic and undetectable.

Both women and men can benefit from SMP.

On average, most clients will need 4 sessions spaced about 10-14 days apart.

It depends on the severity of hair loss. Each session can take anywhere from 1-3 hours.

Most people do not find the procedure painful. On a scale of 1-10, most report a pain level of around 3.

There is no down time with the procedure. Most people experience redness on the scalp for 2-3 days following. You may have some slight scabbing afterwards, which will resolve within 7-10 days.

Scalp Micropigmentation is a form of permanent cosmetics. You can expect results to last for many years. Some fading may occur after 4-6 years. At that point, a one session touch-up may be necessary.

For men, it is recommended to keep your existing hair at a short buzz cut length. This will ensure the most natural result possible. However, for men with an existing hairline, we can work density into the thinning areas. Women are not required to cut their hair.

When hair is cut down to stubble length, the follicles appear black, regardless of their color.  For this reason we typically use black pigments in various shades from light to dark.  For light or gray hair, we use the lightest pigment.  We do have a deep brown pigment that is more suitable for our lighter skinned clients, as it delivers a warmer tone.

People who have had one or more hair transplants are great candidates for SMP. Impressions can be added to existing hair to make it appear fuller without damaging the transplanted hair. This is a great option for people who don’t want to endure the cost, down time or scarring associated with additional surgeries. SMP can also be used to conceal scars left by previous transplants.

Male and female pattern baldness, density treatments, and alopecia vary in price depending on the severity of hair loss. Most clients will fall in the range of $1000-$2500.

Scar concealment starts at $300. You will be given an up front quote at the free consultation and that quote will not change, regardless of the amount of sessions needed.

The Norwood Scale (for men) and the Ludwig Scale ( for women) shown below are used for pricing guidelines.
